Our Story

The Kingsbury Episcopi Community Centre, Shop and Café is a lively local hub for our beautiful village on the edge of the Somerset Levels.

Opened in 2017, the new Centre is the result of years of hard work and fundraising by local volunteers and we are very proud of it.  With thanks to The Big Lottery Fund, South Somerset District Council, Kingsbury Episcopi Parish Council, hundreds of residents and many local businesses, we have a purpose-built facility with an airy, modern village hall, a well-stocked shop, post office, friendly café and ample parking.

The volunteer-run Community Shop sells excellent local and fresh produce, with the Post Office counter providing mail and banking services right here in Kingsbury! The Café offers tea, coffee, cakes, pasties and snacks to eat in or take away.

With glass doors opening onto a large outdoor patio, the hall has a stage with lighting and surround sound, banqueting tables and chairs, catering kitchen and licensed bar.

The recreation ground that surrounds the Community Centre has a bike track, exercise equipment, all-weather floodlit Multi-Use Games Area, children’s play area and well-maintained football pitches with Sport England-approved changing facilities. There is also a public toilet available during shop opening times.

The shop and café are an increasingly popular stop for walkers on the Parrett Trail and cyclists touring the Somerset Levels.

Come and visit us soon for a warm Kingsbury welcome!
