Volunteers

Our volunteers are key to the success of the shop. Without them we would not be able to keep the shop running. When we asked them why they volunteered to work in the shop, these are some of the replies:

  • Get a feeling of helping the local community
  • An excellent use of my spare time
  • Get to meet lots of people
  • It feels good to be part of the success of the shop
  • It’s relaxing not to have to take responsibility or organise anything
  • It’s fun
  • Learn new skills
  • Catch up with gossip
  • Sense of belonging to the community
  • Sense of purpose
  • Camaraderie

We have steadily gained volunteers over the three years that the shop has been trading. Most have been here since the beginning. It’s not like a job, it’s more of a social occasion, seems to be the general feeling. There are 3 shifts each day, 8.00am to 11.30am, 11.30am to 3pm and 3pm to 6.30pm. Two volunteers cover each shift, so that is six people each day.  Some work 2-3 times a week, some once a week and some once a month.  They are all a valuable asset to the shop.  Sometimes they don’t even want to leave at the end of the shift!!!

If you think you would like to add to our valuable team, please let one of the managers know or call into the shop and leave a message with your name and a phone number and someone will get back to you.

We are currently creating content for this section. In order to be able to keep up with our high standards of service, we need a little more time. Please stop by again. Thank you for your interest!
